Labia are the two pairs of lips present around the vagina. These are the labia majora, which is the larger and fattier skin folds, and labia minora, which are the folds of skin between the labia majora.
The labia protect the clitoris and the urethra by growing as a skin cover over the opening of the vagina. Transgender women often opt for labiaplasty, which is the procedure for creating these vaginal lips for feminine pleasure and confidence. Moving or rubbing the labia minora helps arouse the clitoris.
How Is Labiaplasty Performed?
Lips of the vagina are created often with the vaginoplasty procedure (creation of a neovagina) and clitoroplasty (creation of clitoris).
The urinary pipe in men is longer than in women, so first, the length and position of this urine pipe are adjusted.
The surgeon then creates the inner labia from leftover skin after removing the penis while the outer labia is made from skin formed from the soft tissues of testicles.
Some revisions may be required after vaginoplasty to change the appearance of the lips to make them look more realistic and attractive.
